The popularity of arm tattoos and  its brief history

Not many people know this, but tattoos have always been popular. The first tattoo was made more than 10,000 years ago in the area that we now call Japan. However, the oldest tattoo that was ever discovered is 5,000 years old and it can be seen on the skin of one of the best preserved mummies. At that point, tattoos may have been related to acupuncture, but some of them were certainly based on symbolism, like they are today.

In the last years, the process of creating a tattoo has become less painful and anyone can get one. Besides this, you can now be sure that health issues won’t appear when you get a tattoo and there are infinite designs to choose from. Colored tattoos are also quite popular and when it comes to where to put them, the arm remains one of the best areas of the body.

Arm tattoos are very popular because most of our arm skin is not that sensitive and it can handle the tattoo needle. Besides this, once you get into your 20s, your arm will probably keep its proportions and the tattoo won’t get deteriorated in time. Another fact that makes arm tattoos popular is that you can always cover it up. By placing a tattoo on the bicep or triceps, you have a choice: you can let people see it by wearing a sleeveless shirt or you can hide it by wearing a simple T-shirt.

Other areas of the body are inaccessible and if you get a tattoo on your legs, back or chest, there won’t be that many moments when people will be able to admire the artwork. Choosing the arm is usually the best thing to do because you can keep your options open.
